Fence/Deck Staining Process
We first clean the wood to remove dirt, algae, and other particles from the boards to help the stain adhere properly to the wood.
To apply the stain we use a commercial grade airless paint sprayer to help provide even coverage and proper application of the stain. A low pressure tip is used to minimize potential over spray. We also utilize spray shields to prevent stain from getting onto any unwanted areas as well as wipe off gate hardware afterwards.Â
It is important that you turn your sprinkler system off the day that the work is being performed to prevent unwanted water damage to the stain before it has had time to fully dry.
For most of our staining projects, we typically use either Sherwin Williams Superdeck or Behr Premium brand stain products. We've found that these products offer excellent protection without being as prone to peeling or cracking if applied properly, as well as provide a longer lasting finish in comparison to many other brands of stain. If you have another stain product that you would like to use feel free to let us know.Â
Some HOA's have requirements on which stains are allowed, in which case we recommend adhering to the HOA guidelines to avoid any potential regulatory issues.
Fence Cleaning/Restoration ProcessIf you are looking to restore your fence to its natural beauty we are here to help! To clean fences we typically spray the fence at roughly 400psi along with a product called deck revive from Sherwin Williams in order to kill any algae or mildew present as well as remove any particles from the pickets. This relatively low pressure helps ensure that the wood does not break down or splinter during the cleaning process, which is a common issue that typically occurs if you try to pressure wash the wood and use too high of a pressure or get too close to the wood. If the wood is damaged by the high pressure and raises the wood fibers, then the stain can have issues properly absorbing into the wood and the damage can show through the stain. Also if there is any heavy buildup on the fence (mud/dirt) we have brushes that we are able to use to scrub the fence without damaging the pickets.
A clear sealant/stain can be applied to the fence to help protect the wood from weathering while maintaining the natural look of the fence after it has been cleaned.

Our Company Policies
By agreeing to the estimate, you are also agreeing to our company policies.
All quotes are valid for one month after the estimate is provided.
We require payment upon job completion and customer inspection. Zelle, Paypal, and Venmo are our preferred payment methods however we are able to take cash or check as well.
We require that all plants or grass that are near or against the fence line be trimmed back in advance in order for us to properly access the fence to clean/stain it. We are not responsible for missed spots due to grass being too long and blocking the lower portion of the fence. Objects that are on or touching the fence such as string lights, hanging flower pots etc. must be moved as well. We advise that you inform your neighbors in advance to move any objects that are directly against the fence on their side as well to prevent potential overspray onto their belongings.
Please make us aware of any landscaping that may impact our ability to perform the work in advance such as landscaping rocks against the fence, pool decking, large shrubs, vines, etc. This can affect the overall quote in order to account for the extra time and prep work that may be required to properly complete the project. An additional cost may incur if we are not informed in advance.
If your fence has hard water marks (typically damage caused by sprinklers that hit the fence), or any other damage caused by weathering, erosion, etc there is the chance that we will not be able to remove the damage since typically these types of marks impact the actual wood and are not something that can be cleaned off. In which case the stain may not be able to fully cover the marks and remain visible. We are not liable in the event that this occurs, however there may be options to help alleviate the issue on a case by case basis.
To apply the stain we typically use a Graco airless sprayer using a low pressure tip which has minimal overspray (typically only 2-4 inches from the fence). We utilize spray shields as well as tarps as needed to prevent potential overspray onto unwanted surfaces such as where the fence line meets the house or if there is pool decking directly touching the fence.
If the stain is a custom tint or a color/stain type we normally don't use, a deposit may be required since once tinted, the stain is non returnable. Material deposits are non-returnable once the stain is tinted, and if you change your mind on color after the stain is tinted an additional cost may occur depending on the color.
For fences that are cleaned by a third party/customer, we are not responsible in the event that the stain does not absorb properly due to improper cleaning. More information about this can be found at Â

Typically we leave any leftover stain behind with our customers in the event that it is needed in the future for any picket replacements/touch ups etc.
Once the stain has had time to soak in and fully cure, if it looks like a spot was missed or an area did not take the stain well, feel free to reach out to us so we can work with you in order to resolve the issue.
We are not liable for damage to the stain from storms, sprinklers, scrapes, weedeaters etc. It is recommended that you adjust your sprinklers to avoid hitting the fence and damaging the stainÂ
